Who we are is more important than what we do. This is so true. Most of the time, we are so action-driven that we fill our lives with activities and bombard our to-do lists with tasks to accomplish within a period of time… and sometimes, we become burdened and discouraged when we can’t accomplish some of these things we set out to achieve.
At the beginning of every year, we come up with a list of goals, resolutions, and action-plans. Most of us are so performance oriented that we don’t pay attention to the most important thing in life – who we are! For who we are is what influences what we do.
For instance, it is because you are a diligent person that you to strive to complete your assignments at work, it is because you are disciplined that is why you can effectively combine your side-hustle with your full job without anything falling apart. It is because you are a kind person that you could think of doing all those beautiful things for people. It is because you’re entrepreneurial, that you make efforts to cut down costs and maximize the resources of your company. Similarly, it is because you’re are a relational person, that is why you invest in your relationships.
It is always about who we are first… and when we misplace our priorities and focus on doing things, then we struggle and find ourselves falling short of what we want to achieve.
So today as you go about your duties, remember your efforts should be exerted towards becoming the kind of person you want to become, then doing things that portray who you are will only come naturally. At the beginning of the year, your goals should be targeted at becoming, your goals and to-dos should be filled with the books you want you to read, the new mentors you want to meet, the new places you want to go, the new classes you want to register for that will help you become better, self-development and growth and spiritual goals, not things because if you grow and become a better person, it will only be natural to do the right things
